More Binding - Crumby Kisses

Today I will do some more work on binding my quilt Crumby Kisses. I have just over 100" left to bind and then it will be done. I will be sad when it is finished because I have fallen in love with this quilt and I don't think I am going to be keeping it.

I have been shown a technique that allows you to bind a quilt by machine and it really turns out beautiful but honestly I love to hand stitch the binding to the quilt. It is one of my favourite parts of the quilting process. There is something about being up-close and personal to the quilt, petting it and admiring it, that I just love so much.

I am linking up to Kathy's Quilts and Slow Sunday Stitching. Kathy celebrates those that do hand work and every week she reminds us to take the time to slow down, do some handwork and just enjoy the process. Good advice!!

I too prefer to bind a quilt by hand. It's my last chance to be alone with my "baby" before it goes on to its new home. Silly, right? But I love that time. Enjoy the slow stitching. ;^)

My binding style depends on the type of quilt I'm making. I do my binding by machine when the quilt is a donation or commission. If a quilt is for a gift or for my family to keep, I am more likely to bind the quilt by hand. I enjoy the handwork, but am rather slow at it.

I often feel sad when binding too if the quilting is being given away.
Enjoy every stitch with this beautiful quilt!
My sister does all her binding by machine and it looks fine.
But I think she misses out on the relaxation... she says hand binding is NOT relaxing :)

I love the binding process. I use my walking foot to sew the binding on and then stitch it down by hand. I enjoy putting in those final stitches it gives me to time to reflect on the work that went into the quilt. As for letting go of quilts, so hard for me. I did gift some of my earlier work but as I put more time into each quilt they have become like one of my children and I can't let go.

Ellen rematar el edredón siempre es maravilloso,
todas mis costuras son amano así que pasa tanto tiempo desde el comienzo,
que mientras remato voy recordando todos las cosas que sucedieron en ese tiempo
buena semana

I enjoy binding by hand also. Be sure to take lots of pictures so that you can always look back on a favorite quilt.

Hi Ellen

Hand sewing the binding on is my most favorite part of doing the quilt. I get to pat it, admire it and enjoy all the colours of fabric and the work that I had put into it. It feels so comforting to love my quilts at binding time.

Love sis
