Figuring it Out

test block
I have started working on the Blind Man's Fancy block and so far I have one that is partially made. This one is a test to determine which way I want seams to be pressed as well as just an overall view of what my blocks will look like when they are finished. This block is humongous due to the fact that I am using 2.5" hsts and corner squares and whenever I see it on my design wall I just want to laugh. I am so used to making blocks that are sooooo much smaller that it seems really weird to see one on my design wall that is 16"!

I started piecing my test block with the center star and made it without any issues and that is perfect. Next, I worked on the hsts in the outer edges. I have found that I have to pay close attention to the orientation of the components when I stitch them together because they could really cause me some trouble. It is so easy to get them turned around as I am taking them to the sewing machine.
option 1
I am still working out which fabric I would like in the large triangles and I have picked out two options so far.

option 2
At this point, I am leaning toward the second option and I think I have enough of the fabric so we will see.

I agree with your second-option choice, but if you don't have quite enough the first option would make a good scattered-in enhancement, don't you think?

I like the second but you could make alternating blocks.

Wow! I love this block. It is just scrappy enough to my taste. I like option two also but number 1 will be very calming to the eye once all the blocks are sewn together. ;^)

I absolutely LOVE your block!!! If we are voting, I really like the softness of Option Two. The stark contrast of the solid with all of those scrappy bits seems a bit "off" somehow.
